The Current State of Our Nation

Message from Rose July 2024

If we look closely at the current state of our nation, we can see the scars from years of neglect. Those who have been charged with the preservation and protection of our constitution have failed us. Many in DC seem to care more about their status and their payoffs than they do about representing us and safeguarding our Constitution.

Government is an industry and as with all industries it has its own special interests and desire to grow in order to increase its power and influence. Unlike industries in the private sector, it does not produce wealth so it must take wealth by force. It does so through taxes, regulations, and asset forfeiture. It redistributes that wealth with the purpose of a political outcome as opposed to a beneficial economic outcome.

The organizing principles of our Constitutional republic are church, family and community in that order. The only thing that stands in the way of government becoming the organizing principle of society and culture is the Constitution, which stands in the way of just about every progressive agenda item. That is why some hate it and why they seek every way possible around it.

The solution to restoring the state of our union depends upon us – beginning with our vote. It concerns me greatly when I hear that some are planning to abstain from voting. We can’t afford that. You may hear many say they must vote their principles. That’s very noble but when doing so risks a far greater harm it is a moral hazard and willful blindness.

We’ve just celebrated 248 years of independence this summer. What kind of place would this be, this America, if the spirit of our forefathers were completely extinguished? The men and women who forged this Republic did so by making great sacrifices and taking huge risks. They invested in our future by giving so freely of their present. They knew that what they were doing was risky business – dangerous even. But they did so in an effort to pass on to us their vision for a strong and safe America.

Astonishingly, they did this for us while recognizing that they themselves might never fully benefit from their sacrifices. They knew, ultimately, that what they were doing would be a gift for future generations. A gift for you and me. And even though they knew they might not enjoy the fruits of their labor they remained steadfast in their determination. America is great because it can be. And it can be because it’s free. As taxes, regulations and Executive Orders increase, our freedom decreases. All-powerful central planners dictating economics, politics, and culture to the people supposedly to create a utopia is a very old idea; tribal leaders, kings, queens, emperors, and more recently, the divine right of bureaucrats. They all end in great wealth for the few and disaster for the many. These ancient ideas in all of their iterations have failed 100% of the time, and yet they continue to intoxicate those who would rule over us and seduce those foolish enough to give up their freedom in exchange for their empty promises.

We can’t allow ourselves to move backwards towards tyranny. We must stay the course of freedom. Our freedom was so essential that the founders were willing to sacrifice their own blood and fortunes to secure it.

We can begin by remembering what it was that made us great in the first place, men and women with a vision. A vision for freedom and liberty. A vision for a safe haven. We must be committed to the same. We do that with leadership that is not afraid to take unpopular stands. The founding fathers didn’t take a popular stand.

Thank God!

So, with that same determination we’ve seen from our forefathers, and with the same commitment to country, I urge you to vote. There are important races to be determined in every election - all the way down the ballots. Every. Single. Race. is important. Whether it is on a local level -school board (super important), state level, or federal level – they all matter. Do your research for each and every candidate. Line up their positions with the positions of those who founded this country, and then vote.
