Wait For It…

Psalm 27:14: “ Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.” I’ve talked to many believers over the course of this past year. They have been through personal struggles, some have had to overcome real and/or imagined fears, and some experienced disappointments when certain hopes or expectations were not met. There seemed to have been a collective struggle throughout 2023.

The struggle though, seems to have produced a perseverance, a new-found strength, and more importantly, a renewed faith in the God who has called us. When we wait on the Lord amazing things follow.

Do we take God at his word?  “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 If we rest in the knowledge that God has a perfect plan for each of us – while we are in that state of waiting – we can wait knowing that He has not forsaken us. And because we have that knowledge - that belief that He is for us and not against us, we can be of good courage.

We won’t let fear drive us, or disappointment define us. Having faith in those moments of waiting, we overcome that fear, that disillusionment. The waiting produces a strong heart. David said that God will strengthen our heart as we wait on Him. He will establish us, cause us to be spiritually firm in our faith. Because when we wait patiently for Him, we are demonstrating a faith that goes beyond our circumstances.

I truly believe God is raising up an army of believers who are being prepared to go into spiritual battle. He is preparing us to be laborers to go and gather those who are in great need of a Savior. Look around you – really look at those people God has put in your path. There is so much pain, sadness, fear, and confusion. How could we hope to reach them if we had not ourselves first waited on the Lord and in doing so – established a firm heart and deep faith.

Oh, He has a plan for you. But you could not have been sent out on that new journey without training. Last year was your year of training. This year you will go out and do that thing that your heart yearns for. But now, you will do it with a faith that has been strengthened and a heart that has been firmly established in Him.

Blessings to you,
Rose
