Minor League Baseball Player Gets Baptized

American Faith

Wes Clarke, a minor league baseball player, was baptized earlier this week by his teammate, Brewer Hicklen.

Clarke plays for the Nashville Sounds.

The baptism occurred after the team won 4-1 against the Memphis Redbirds.

Both Clarke and Hicklen wore “Jesus Won” t-shirts during the baptism.

“Had the privilege of being baptized yesterday on the field by one of my good friends after our game,” Clarke wrote on Instagram. “Thank you Jesus for this amazing moment in my life. I am incredibly blessed to be surrounded by so many supportive people. It was such a special night!”

Clarke is one of several athletes making public declarations of faith.

Earlier this year, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker gave a commencement speech at Benedictine College.

While discussing the importance of his own faith, Butker noted that “our own nation is led by a man who publicly and proudly proclaims his Catholic faith, but at the same time is delusional enough to make the sign of the cross during a pro-abortion rally.”

He added, “I never envisioned myself to have this sort of a platform, but God has given it to me, so I have no other choice but to embrace it and preach more hard truths about accepting your lane and staying in it.”
